Sterling Real Estate
Sterling was first established as a planned community in Loudoun County in 1962, on what had previously been a dairy farm. New homes were prefabricated houses built by US Steel that featured air conditioning and cost less than comparable homes in Fairfax County. This coupled with both the lower taxes in Loudoun, and the newly dedicated Dulles International Airport later that year, meant Sterling grew quickly.
Northern Sterling has some of the newest neighborhoods following the original concept of giving Homeowners access without membership fees to golf and tennis courts and pools.
Dulles Town Center mall opened in 2000, and there are numerous restaurants and shopping centers nearby. Sterling continues to be a coveted location to live, close to major commuting routes Route 28, Route 7, and the Dulles Toll Road.
